TX Active-Bianchi’s Gerhard Kerschbaumer won a round earlier the MTB “Internazionali d’Italia”. Italian U23 rider took the final success thanks to a brilliant victory in the round-4 in Chies d’Alpago, Northern Italy, on Sunday, June 5th. Good news even for Tony Longo: his gap from the Elite ranking’s leader has been reduced to one point.
Kerschbaumer outdistanced all his opponents, clinching first overall and clocking 1.40:06. Michele Casagrande was runner-up, with a 23-seconds gap. Thanks to the 35 points taken in Chies d’Alpago, TX Active-Bianchi’s rider flies to 170 in Internazionali’s ranking, unachievable score for everyone. Longo placed tenth and fifth of Elite series, going up to 81 points, just one less than Marco Aurelio Fontana, leader jersey’s holder, and levelled with Ivan Alvarez Gutierrez. A mechanical problem forced Cristian Cominelli to give up.
One success and four placing for the Junior Team, in the Coppa Italia’s side event. Cadet Cristian Boffelli scored a fantastic victory on a muddy course and under the pouring rain, whilst Italian champion Federico Barri finished fourth. Chiara Teocchi was runner-up among the girls. Rookies Oscar Vairetti and Giorgio Rossi went close to podium, taking respectively fourth and fifth.
