Leonardo Paez returns to Italy to join again the TX Active-Bianchi team in 2012. The 28-year-old Colombian rider, Marathon expert, signed a one-year contract with Felice Gimondi’s team to chase the Olympic dream on saddle of a Bianchi bike, just like he did in 2008.
In 2011 Paez run with Bianchi Methanol SL the Olympic test on Hadgleigh’s course (UK) and took a fantastic solo win at the Pan-American Games in Tapalpa (Mexico).
Paez, ready to compete in 2012 with the new Bianchi Methanol 29 SL model, is beaming with joy. “I’m really happy to be here again: this team is like a family for me. I want to come back stronger than before, to perform well at 2012 London Games and above all to win the Marathon World Championships”.
TX Active-Bianchi’s President Felice Gimondi is delighted with Paez’s return. “Paez, together with Italian Tony Longo, will assure us a significant covering in the marathon events to make our team much stronger and visible. Colombian rider can play his cards at World Championships too”.
Leonardo Paez rode for TX Active-Bianchi from 2008 to 2010. During this period he claimed relevant victories including XCM World Cup (2008), XCO Colombian championship (2008 and 2009) and Internazionali d’Italia’s final ranking (2009).
Cristian Cominelli placed 29th at Cyclo-cross World Cup’s round-3 in Koksijde (Belgium), on Saturday, November 26th. On Bianchi D|2 Cross Carbon’s saddle, TX Active-Bianchi’s biker from Lombardy region crossed the finish line 5 minutes and 47 seconds behind the winner, Belgian Sven Nys. Cominelli was third among Italian riders, after Franzoi and Bianco, and he’s 24th in the World Cup’s ranking after round-3.
Cristian Cominelli was runner-up at International Radquer Frenkendorf in Frenkendorf (Switzerland) on Sunday, November 13th. In the Swiss race, on saddle of Bianchi D|2 Cross Carbon, TX Active-Bianchi’s rider crossed the finish-line only a few seconds behind the winner, French Francis Mourey. “I’m really happy with my performance. I felt well and I kept chance of success until the last kilometers” Cominelli stated.
On Friday, November 11th Cominelli took sixth position at Cyclo-cross Nommay in Nommay (France) instead, trying several attacks throughout the whole race and playing his cards for second place ‘til the final sprint.
Junior Team celebrated two victories at Giro d’Italia Cross in Paterno (Southern Italy). Cadet Chiara Teocchi won her series and keep the leader’s pink jersey, while Giorgio Rossi was 3rd Overall and best placed among Cadets born in 1997.
TX Active-Bianchi’s Cristian Cominelli will race twice in the second week-end of November. On Friday, November 11th Italian biker will enter the Cyclo-cross Nommay, international C2 race in Nommay (France). On Sunday, November 13th Cominelli will take part on saddle of Bianchi D|2 Cross Carbon at International Radquer Frenkendorf, C2 event scheduled in Frenkendorf (Switzerland).
Junior Team goes on its participation at Giro d’Italia Cross. Cadets Giorgio Rossi and Chiara Teocchi will run the round-4 in Paterno (Basilicata – Southern Italy). Teocchi is the owner of the leader’s pink race in her series.
