Giro d’Italia rest day was the right time to draft first balance. After several victories and podium positions in America, Asia and Europe during the early season, Bianchi and Androni Giocattoli team have already succeeded in confirming how successful their union was along one of biggest and most demanding stage races.

During 94th Giro d’Italia’s first 9 stages, Treviglio-based company’s technology and Androni riders’ skills looked to be done one for each others. D2 Crono Carbon model first, Bianchi Oltre then brought out Vicioso, Ferrari, Serpa, Rujano and their team-mates capabilities, up to be every day in the spotlights getting brilliants results.

The good omen came from Turin, with Androni team long-time second placed in the TTT and well-placed in the stage final ranking. Then, day after day, Gianni Savio’s riders have been challenging on the front-line with their Oltre model bikes: from Roberto Ferrari’s sprints, with Italian rider fourth in Parma, third in Fiuggi and fifth in Tropea, to Angel Vicioso’s victory in Rapallo, in the pink race’s stage3, went sadly down in history because of Wouter Weylandt’s death. Again, from José Serpa’s good performance and third place on Tuscany’s gravel roads to José Rujano’s brilliant climbing on Etna volcano, where Venezuelan rider (7th placed in Montevergine di Mercogliano, two days earlier) was outstanding Spanish Alberto Contador’s runner-up.

However, there’s still long way to go with Bianchi and Androni looking forward further valuable placings. After the rest, riders will leave again on Tuesday, May 17th with the stage10, 159km from Termoli to Teramo, Mid Italy. Giro will restart with Androni’s Josè Serpa eighth overall and Roberto Ferrari hunting for a victory only brushed in first nine days. For sure Androni team feel ready to play a leading role even in Giro d’Italia’s second half, strongly wishing to lead their Bianchi Oltre bikes to win.
